Pirtti – The “wildest” restaurant in Kuhmo?
Welcome to Pirtti Restaurant – a place where the flavors of the forest come to your plate!
Pirtti is located in the main building of the holiday village. In summer, it’s open whenever the reception is. In winter, the restaurant serves groups on request.
Here you can taste the flavors of the local forest – game, fish, mushrooms, and herbs. Our skilled chef creates delicious dishes that combine traditional and modern cooking.
In our kitchen, food is made with love for pure ingredients and local taste. We use a lot of local food and grow some things ourselves – potatoes come straight from our field, and herbs and salads grow in our summer garden boxes.
Depending on the season, we serve colorful vegetable soups, warm side dishes, and fresh baked goods that reflect Kainuu traditions.
Our game comes from nearby: moose is hunted in local forests, and venison is delivered by a trusted partner from Southern Finland. For fish, we follow WWF’s sustainable choices – like locally caught pike and zander, or rainbow trout from a nearby fish farm.
You can also try traditional Finnish treats like sour rye bread, rönttönen pies, and seasonal pastries. One of our specialties is tervaleipä – a unique local bread you won’t find anywhere else.
Most of our dishes and baked goods are gluten-free and lactose-free. Vegetarians will also enjoy well-seasoned, filling, and tasty meals.
