Discover the unique wilderness in eastern Finland! The highlight of this soft adventure must be bear watching in the hideout. Not that the easygoing canoe paddling trip will be anything less memorable. You will also get the genuine Finnish sauna experience. And because adventure is best when shared, this package is put together for two!
Itinerary (day order of the activities might change)
Day 1: Arrival and getting familiar with the resort
Day 2: Canoe paddling trip and smoke sauna experience
During your canoe trip, you can admire our village landscapes from the waterside. While paddling along the lake and river shores, you might encounter various water birds. The farther you go, the greater is the probability of seeing forest deer, elk or other inhabitants of the wilderness. The canoe is 4 hours at your disposal, and you can choose the length of your paddling trip yourself. We will give you route suggestion according to your wishes. Not to forget binoculars, snacks and water bottle! In the evening its time to release all efforts in the muscles and relax in real smoke sauna. The lake is just there to referesh yourself between löyly rounds.
Day 3: Bear watching evening
Imagine seeing a brown bear in its natural habitat! Entering the hideout at 14:00-15:00 for patient waiting and observation. The schedule and driving instruction to the hideout will be given well in advance. Wildlife companies promise a 90%-99% probability of seeing bear/s during the evening. The program (approx. 6h) includes snacks. Note! If you wish to stay the whole night in the hide, choose extra service Overnight bearhide (the cost is 100€ for two).
Day 4: Goodbye Lentiira
After breakfast, it's time to say goodbye and continue the journey. Unless you want to stay a few more days!

How do I book this package?
Click yourself in our online store and book the package right away. The package is available from June 1st to October 1st, 2023. The price, tempereture and amount of mosquitos are highest during July. So we recommend to book before or after the peak season. You choose of course!

Good to know
The experiences we offer are easygoing and perfectly safe. Even if you will get opportunity to discover the wilderness on your own, you will be close to our support nevertheless. No reason to be afraid of wildlife as long as you follow given guidelines.
We reserve right to change the order of activities due to weather conditions or other productional reasons. Our aim is to provide the best possible experience for our quests.
What to bring
We can’t highlight enough the importance of practical clothing from top til toe. Evenings might be chilly on the lake. in case of rain it is useful the have rainproof clothing. If in doubt, please advice.
Regarding wildlife observation it is a good idea to bring binoculars to get best out of the experience. Small packpack for snacks, water bottle and extra layers will be useful.
How to get to Lentiira
Please note that the price does not include transportation. Due to our remote location in eastern part of Finland (Kuhmo) and lack of public transportation, you will need a rental car or a two-wheeler to get around.
The closest airport finds in Kajaani. You might also fly to Kuopio, Oulu or Kuusamo, and drive to Lentiira from there. Check Finnair for domestic flight connections from Helsinki. And if you have time, train is definitely a pleasant way of travelling. There are several departures daily from Helsinki - Kajaani, or, Oulu - Kajaani routes. See vr.fi for train shcedules.
