Autumn season means adventure and abundance of colors in the arctic lakeland. Falling for the wild east  means a unique opportunity to get familiar with the wildlife native to the area and learn practical wilderness skills related to Finnish lifestyle.

Chance to observe bear behaviour in its natural habitat is a hightlight for any nature-loving guest and nature photograher visiting the wildlife centres in the area. Elk on the other hand is the biggest mammal in Europe and really impressive creature to follow in the forest! With our guided program you will probably learn more than you ever can from books or videos. The exitement of real experience is nothing to compare.

Everyday wilderness skills in Finland means not only ability to make barbeque and cook in the open fire but also making use of wild fish, berries and mushrooms growing in the forest.  Besides, fishing and berrypicking are considered to be extremely relaxing hobbies with delicious benefits with fresher than fresh superfoods on our plates!

The Fall for the Wild East holiday package includes cosy cottage accommodation with guided activities as follows: bear watching  in the hide, elk scouting hike and harvest day with fishing and berrypicking followed by traditional smoke sauna experience. If requested, we can add more activities, all transfers  and/or meals to the package.

DAY 1
Check-in and orientation

DAY 2
Elk scouting and traditional sauna experience

At dawn meeting with your guide at the Lentiira Holiday Village reception. After short transfer to the location, will take a hike following the tracks of European elk that is the biggest mammal in Europe. You will learn interesting details about the impressive animal, its habitat and livelihood in taiga forest. Might also see the rare wild forest reindeer and variety of birds on the tour. Duration 2-3 hours including snacks.

In the evening it’s time for relaxation in our traditional wood-heated smoke sauna. The brave ones will have a swim in the lake to get fully refreshed. Duration 1,5 hours with introduction and refreshments.

DAY 3
Harvest day with fishing and berrypicking

First in the morning we’ll pick wild blueberries, lingonberries and/or mushrooms depending on availability. Afternoon will be spent on waters learning techniques to catch pike and perch guided by locals. Program duration 6 hours including packed or together prepared lunch at the bonfires.

DAY 4
Bear watching

In the afternoon its time for patience and true excitement! After  30 - 45 minutes self-drive meeting with your guide at the local wildlife centre, where bears and wolverines are frequent visitors. After introduction entering the hide to observe bear and perhaps also other wonderful creatures living in the wild. Duration 5-6 hours including snacks.

Summer season starts usually after volatile spring months of April and May. Until late October the waters are running free for fishing and other activities, and, forests will be accessible for exploration. Below you find what to do in Lentiira during summer times.
